We hope that some of that warm weather and sunshine has you convinced that spring is on its way. Winter has the stage for a little while longer but we have felt the warming air of spring and we won’t soon forget it. Another thing we won't be forgetting is that this is our 50th anniversary year here at the Grain Train!

For the coming months we will be looking back at the last 50 years. Revisiting how the Co-op began, remembering and reconnecting with some of the founding members, and celebrating all that has been while dreaming about what is yet to come! If you have a favorite story about the Grain Train’s history, have a picture to share, or can think of a person we might interview, please reach out to us at outreach@graintrain.coop. We would love to hear from you!

Here’s what’s happening in the stores—
  • We have had fresh cut tulips throughout February and have added fresh cut daffodils for March.
  • Bear Creek Organic Farm Microgreens are back!
  • Our garden seeds are here and spring bulbs are on their way.
  • We have our eyes open for the first sources of spring favorites like rhubarb, and our ears to the ground so we can bring you regional—then local—asparagus as soon as these items are available.
  • Before you know it, we will be filling our shelves with everything you need for your first picnics and BBQs of the year.

If you haven’t seen them yet, we have a whole new cut fruit and vegetable selection at the stores. These items are a mix of organic and conventional products to offer a budget-friendly option for everyone. We know that time is one resource we are all looking for more of and we hope this program gives you just that. Stop by and grab a container of fresh stir-fry veggies and then swing over to the deli to pick up already prepared chicken breast or tofu to add. That way you have more time to spend doing what you love.

It’s hard to believe that it's nearly a year since we have been living and operating in a global pandemic. We are excited to see more and more folks in our communities have vaccines become available to them. Our COVID-19 protocols remain in place and will continue to do so as long as it is necessary. Thank you for your continued support and patronage through a very challenging year.

Speaking of saving time, have you been using our curbside option? This program is here to stay! Place your order online and let us bring it right to your car. Maybe you still want to come inside and see what’s new or you really like to pick your own produce? You can still place a curbside order for the majority of what you want and then come inside and shop the store for those added items. We just want this program to work for you.

****We are excited to now offer Curbside pick up in Boyne City!****
Just place your orders via WebCart and choose Boyne City as your pick up location. Pick up days in Boyne City are Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after 12 PM. Orders placed by 9 PM on Sundays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays will be available for pick up after 12 PM the following day in Boyne City. Credit or debit card payment only. Being able to reach more communities has us excited about the future!
