The first phase of work to repave several blocks of East Mitchell and Division streets in downtown Petoskey is expected to begin Monday, Sept. 30, and will require street closures, including the sections of Mitchell between Emmet and Howard streets in front of both the Grain Train store and cafe. Traffic can use the side streets in those areas and pedestrians will be able to access all the businesses along the affected portions of Mitchell Street at all times. The one big caveat to all these plans is that they all are “weather permitting.” We will keep you updated if construction dates change.

For the duration of the street closure, the store and cafe will be open as usual and offering all customers 10% OFF** on purchases. Since there will be no access to the parking lot outside the store while Mitchell is closed, shoppers are encouraged to use the Darling Lot located behind the Grain Train Market Cafe and just a short distance from the store (see map below). If you are shopping at the store, feel free to take shopping carts to your car as needed when you park there. For your convenience, carts can be returned to the back porch entrance of the Grain Train Cafe where they will be regularly picked-up and returned to the store by Grain Train staff. If you need assistance getting groceries to your car, just ask and we will be glad to help.
